Rockin J’s Childcare has been a staple of the Hutchinson childcare scene for nearly 20 years. Though it changed ownership during that time, Brittany McMurphy has been there nearly since the beginning and has been passionately dedicated to helping families in Reno County with their childcare needs. We’re happy to announce her as the Reno County Child Care Task Force Child Care Provider of the Month for March!
Brittany’s nominator, Rockin J’s Childcare owner Kelly Root, had this to say about her impact: “Brittany has been a huge asset to Rockin J's. She has been a teacher for the past 16 years. Since we bought the daycare over three years ago, she has been my assistant and helps me out daily with anything that I need. She goes above and beyond her job description and doesn't complain about it. She helps wherever she is needed. She is an amazing teacher and has a huge heart for these kids!”
“I appreciate it so much that Kelly nominated me. I appreciate that she sees what I do here and I take so much pride in this place because I have grown up here, and I've raised my own kids here. Being able to know that the work that we're doing is being appreciated by not just my boss, but by the community as well is a really cool feeling,” said Brittany.
Brittany’s efforts are appreciated indeed, as finding quality childcare can be a big challenge for families. She's made a difference for many, many children who’ve come through the doors at Rockin’ J, and Brittany realizes the benefit for herself, as well.
“There's so much I love about it, like when the kids tell me they love me. It makes my whole day and I love being able to be their safe place and watching them learn,” said Brittany. “I've been with preschool age kids and just being able to watch the gears turn in their head when you're teaching them is incredible. And they're so excited and happy to be here with us every single day, and it just makes my heart so happy.”
Brittany is grateful not only for this recognition, but for the resources and awareness the Reno County Child Care Task Force has brought to the area. “The Task Force has been such a wonderful organization here in Reno County. They have offered numerous trainings that are free and in person, which I really enjoy. Being able to go to a class and not just have to do a Zoom or online training is great.”
Through these trainings and events, Brittany has been able to grow her skills and network with other providers in the area who share her passion.
“I can't imagine doing anything else. I briefly had other jobs along with this, like second jobs just to fill my time, but this is what I was called to do. If you love to be around kids and this is something that you feel is in your heart, then I would highly recommend it.”
Thank you, Brittany, for all you’ve done to provide great childcare for so many families in Reno
County!
